FAQ about ATR.1 certificates

What is an ATR.1 certificate?

An ATR.1 certificate is a document used in customs between countries of the EC and Turkey. ATR.1 stands for Admission Temporaire Roulette.

When the ATR.1 certificate is issued on certain goods, it allows them to benefit from tariff preferences. This basically means that the rate of duty will be cheaper or nonexistent.

The ATR.1 certification is a special customs agreement between the EC and Turkey. It is not based on the origin of the goods. Rather, it testifies that a certain product has gone through the ATR clearance and is now in free circulation. 

When do you need an ATR.1 certificate?

An ATR document is never strictly required, but it can be very beneficial when shipping between Turkey and countries of the EC. With this certificate you avoid custom duties, making it a must for most import or export companies.

What goods are covered by an ATR.1 certificate?

To qualify for an ATR certification, the goods in question must be in circulation in either Turkey or a country of the EC. Other than that, the following categories are covered:

 

  • Industrial products
  • Agricultural products
  • Products from the ECSC (European Coal and Steel Community)

Step-by-Step guide to filling out the atr1 form

Step 1: 

From the consignment overview on your Clearview Trade Platform, you can create an ATR-document using the information already embedded in a given shipment.

  1. Choose the shipment in question and select the “create document” symbol to the right.

Step 2:

Now you can choose the “A.TR – movement certificate” option in the drop down menu.

Step 3: 

The application will now automatically pull all the information from your transport booking into the document. You can fill out any blank information spaces if needed.

Step 4: 

You now have two options for what to do with your ATR-document.

You can either:

  1. Print the document by using the “print” option in the bottom right corner.
  2. Save (or save and close) by using the saving options, also in the bottom right corner.

Step 5:

You will now be able to see the ATR-document in the consignment overview. To see or edit the document you must click the “documents manager” symbol to the right. A menu of documents related to the shipment will then appear.

Step 6:

Remember to invite your customer to your platform. In that way they can access the ATR-document and handle it. You can always watch your document status in the transport bookings list.

If you haven’t shared the document with the customer already, here is what you do:

  1. Find the shipment in question and click the “…” icon to the right under “actions”.
  2. Click the “send invitation” symbol in the drop down menu and give your customer the needed acces.
