What is a free sale certificate?

A free sale certificate is a document that proves that certain goods are legally sold or distributed in the open market in the exporting country.

When do you need a free sale certificate?

The document certifies that the given imported goods are normally and freely sold in the exporting country’s markets and furthermore are approved for export. Most often it is medical companies that need free sale certificates in order to export their products.

What goods are covered by a free sale certificate?

Many different types of goods can be exported using a free sale certificate. That is goods such as food items, cosmetics, biologics or medicial devices.

Step-by-Step guide to filling out our Certificate of Free Sale form

Step 1: Choose Consignor from the Consignment Menu

1. Click on “Consignment”, which can be found in the upper blue ba

2. Choose “Consignor”

Step 2: Pick the Shipment the Certificate is Needed for

Here you can see an overview of all your active shipments.

1. Choose the shipment that requires a Free Sale Certificate, then click “Create documents” – this is the second icon from the left

2. Then, click “Create Food Certificate”

Step 3: Search for “Free Sale Certificate”

1. As you’re creating a Food Certificate, you can search for a Free Sale Certificate. You can do this by typing “Free Sale”, and then picking the named option

2. Then click “Create”

Step 4: Make Sure all the Required Information is in Order

In this screenshot, you can see a preview of a Certificate of Free Sale. It’s been filled out beforehand with the information you’ve already assigned the chosen shipment.

If you wish to edit the form before it’s saved, you need to:

1. Click the field you wish to edit in the certificate itself. The corresponding field in the form will then be marked on the right-hand page, where you can correct the erroneous information

Step 5: Preview, Save, Print or Change the Format

Once everything is in order, you have five different options before you click “Send”:

  1. Click “Decimals” in order to change the number of decimals shown in the certificate. You can also change the date-format if there are specific formal requirements
  2. Click “Preview” to make sure the certificate is filled out and formatted correctly before it’s saved
  3. Click “Print” to print out the document – or save it as a PDF
  4. Click “Save” to save the certificate for future use
  5. Click “Save & Close” to save the certificate and return to the overview
  6. Finally, click “Send” in the bottom left-hand corner to send your application to the appropriate Chamber of Commerce
